Presented by Remedy Collective and Midtown Throwdowns — celebrating community, creativity, and friendly competition all year long..
Remedy Collective Rallies the Community to Support Baxter Community Market
On November 7th, Remedy Collective set out with one mission: fill the dance floor with food and non-perishables for the Baxter Community Market. What we didn’t expect was just how powerfully the community would respond. By the end of the night, we came remarkably close to doing exactly that.
Hosted at Garage Bar, the EDM community turned out in full force — showing up with generous donations, open hearts, and a whole lot of energy. Guests danced the night away while our Remedy House artists shaped the soundscape, creating an atmosphere that blended celebration with purpose. By closing time, the room wasn’t just filled with music; it was filled with essential items for local families in need.
Once the event wrapped, it took three cars to transport all donations to a safe holding space. On Tuesday, November 11th, the Remedy team delivered two full truckloads of food and goods to the Baxter Community Market.
Community Connect lead and Marketing & Events Coordinator Alyssa Brinkmeyer extended the reach even further, coordinating with local partners such as Duke’s Social House, Social House, and Cherie Inn to support additional donation efforts. Their involvement amplified the drive and ensured even more families would benefit.
When the team arrived at Baxter to unload, it quickly became clear that the massive amount of donations was far more than the two volunteers on site could prepare in time for the market’s opening the next day. Baxter Community Executive Director Sonja Forte shared that the need has grown rapidly — Baxter Market has more than doubled the number of families they serve in just a few months. The market acts as a bridge for many households, providing a few crucial meals that help families get by each month.
Hearing this, Alyssa and Remedy CEO Megan Bowman immediately rolled up their sleeves, joining the volunteers to unpack, sort, organize, lift, and stock shelves so everything would be ready for Wednesday morning.
A Larger Mission in Motion
Remedy Collective is deeply committed to making a difference — not just through events, but through action. We donate our time, rally the community, and show up physically to support our neighbors. This commitment has sparked momentum across the scene.
Through these efforts, other collectives and artists have been inspired to host their own food drives and community-support events, creating a ripple effect of generosity that stretches well beyond one night.
In speaking with Baxter's team, Remedy learned that anyone can volunteer on Tuesdays, with shifts available between 8 AM and 5 PM. For those looking to give back, it’s a meaningful way to support families right here in our community.
Baxter Community Market continues to make an incredible impact — but they rely on ongoing support to meet the growing need.

BREAKAWAY 2025: REMEDY COLLECTIVE TAKES OVER GRAND RAPIDS
Grand Rapids was alive with music and energy this past weekend as Breakaway Festival returned, and Remedy Collective made sure every corner of the festival felt their signature vibe. From August 15th to 16th, the collective wasn’t just part of the lineup — they were everywhere, curating experiences that stretched from the main stage to Launch Pad and even the silent disco.
Festival-goers danced across stages, discovering Remedy artists in every corner, whether losing themselves in immersive beats at the main stage, vibing at Launch Pad, or grooving under the quiet pulse of the silent disco. Each set carried Remedy’s unmistakable touch, blending high-energy performances with moments of intimate connection to the music.
Beyond the official festival grounds, Remedy’s influence carried into the city’s afterparties, transforming Grand Rapids into one continuous stage. The collective’s presence wasn’t just a series of performances — it was a takeover, weaving together sound, light, and community into an unforgettable weekend.

about us
Founded nearly two decades ago by Matthew Bowman, a night club promotions expert and artist in the entertainment industry, Remedy Collective began with a simple passion: music. Over the years, it has grown into a dynamic entertainment company with a large roster of talented local DJs and artists, producing unforgettable events and experiences throughout Grand Rapids and beyond.
MattB and MeggB have been a marital power duo, organizing and executing entertainment, family-style, for nearly 10 years. Together, they combine vision, creativity, and hands-on leadership to keep Remedy Collective at the forefront of music, events, and community impact.
From flagship festivals like The Irish Remedy and Oddities on Ottawa to performances at major venues such as Breakaway Music Festival, Remedy Collective blends creativity, innovation, and professionalism to bring music to life.
But Remedy is more than music — it’s a multi-faceted community force. We support local initiatives from food banks and Toys for Tots to the Grand Rapids Pride Center and AYA Youth and Baxter Community Market, while nurturing emerging talent in photography, videography, culinary arts, and live performance.
Rooted in inclusivity, diversity, and a love for the craft, Remedy Collective has become a staple in the cultural landscape of Grand Rapids — a home for artists, a platform for creativity, and a hub for the community.
